International Students - english

The Secretariat for International Students decides which Bachelor’s degrees are recognised by the University of Bremen. Whether students with recognised Bachelor degrees are admitted to the Master programme in Computer Science is decided by a selection committee after the application. Further requirements for a Master’s programme in Computer Science can be found in the admission regulations.
Since the degree programme in Computer Science is mainly offered in German, either a German university entrance qualification or (for international students) German language proficiency at C1 level is required. In addition, it should also be mentioned that during the course of a course of study (not only in computer science) considerable verbal and written contributions at a scientific level (papers, papers, exercises, project report, final thesis) are required in the language of instruction. A fluent expression in word and writing as well as a command of the respective technical language is expected.
The Master’s programme in Computer Science requires knowledge of German at C1 level. At the time of application, proof of knowledge of German at B2 level is sufficient. At the latest 2 weeks after the start of lectures, the C1 certificate must be submitted to the International Students’ Office.
Applicants who have not obtained their higher education entrance qualification (usually the Abitur) at a German-speaking institution must prove that they have the required German language skills before commencing their studies.
The formal requirements in German are checked during enrolment. However, if these requirements are not sufficient for practical study, further German courses at different levels and with different emphases can be taken at the Goethe-Institut (https://www.fremdsprachenzentrum-bremen.de/88.0.html). For international students, the CPs acquired can also be recognised in the area of General Studies.
